The silence that followed felt almost worse.
Billy eventually drifted into an uneasy sleep.
Then something woke him again.
This time it wasn’t knocking.
It was singing.
Soft.
Distant.
Beautiful.

Billy opened his eyes and immediately noticed something alarming.
His bedroom door was open.
According to the story, he distinctly remembered closing it.
He got out of bed and stepped into the hallway.
The singing continued.
As he moved through the cabin, he discovered something even worse.
The front door stood wide open.
Cold air poured inside.
Snow drifted across the floor.
The singing seemed to be coming from outside.
Billy cautiously approached the doorway.
Then he saw her.
Standing beyond the cabin in the blowing snow.
A woman.
Long black hair.
A flowing white dress.
Perfectly still.
Singing.
According to the story, Billy couldn’t explain why, but every instinct told him not to step outside.
Something about the figure felt wrong.
The woman never approached.
Never spoke.
She simply stood there singing while the snow swirled around her.
Then, without warning, the song stopped.
And the woman was gone.
