The next morning Billy tried convincing himself that the night had been a dream.
Sleep deprivation.
Stress.
Anything but the truth.
Then he noticed something beside his bed.
A trail of water.

The water stretched across the floor and disappeared through the open bedroom door.
Billy followed it.
The trail continued down the hallway.
Across the cabin.
All the way to the front entrance.
As though something had entered the house carrying snow.
And melted as it walked.
A terrible thought entered his mind.
The snowmen.
Billy immediately pushed the idea away.
It was impossible.
Snowmen couldn’t enter a cabin.
Snowmen couldn’t walk.
Snowmen couldn’t knock on doors.
Yet according to the story, he couldn’t stop thinking about it.
Because the trail seemed to begin beside his bed.
Not outside.
Not near the front door.
Beside his bed.
As though something had been standing there while he slept.
Watching.
