Part 1 — The Scream in the Sierra Nevada
The Sierra Nevada mountains have a reputation that many outsiders never hear about.
People often talk about the Appalachian Mountains or the forests of the Pacific Northwest when discussing strange wilderness encounters.
But according to those who spend time deep in the Sierras, there is something different about those mountains.
Something older.
Something heavier.
According to a story shared online, a group of friends learned that lesson firsthand during a camping trip deep in the wilderness.

As darkness settled over their campsite, the group sat around a campfire talking and enjoying the quiet mountain air.
Then everything changed.
A horrific scream suddenly echoed through the forest.
The sound was so loud and violent that every conversation immediately stopped.
The scream seemed to come from somewhere beyond the tree line.
Then it came again.
Long.
Piercing.
Almost painful to listen to.
Several members of the group immediately assumed it was a mountain lion.
But according to the story, this sounded different.
The scream continued for what felt like hours.
Each time it echoed through the trees, the campers became more uncomfortable.
Eventually, nobody was talking anymore.
They simply sat there staring into the darkness.
Listening.
Waiting.
Wondering what could possibly be making that noise.
Then, as suddenly as it had begun, the screaming stopped.
The silence that followed somehow felt even worse.
