Part 4 — The Scream

The silence between them stretched on.

Neither person moved.

Neither person spoke.

According to the story, Taylor could feel his instincts screaming that something was wrong.

Everything about the encounter felt unnatural.

The stranger’s appearance.

His behavior.

The way he stared without blinking.

Trying to break the tension, Taylor asked:

“Are you okay?”

For a moment, nothing happened.

The stranger remained motionless.

Then slowly, he lifted his head.

His eyes locked onto Taylor.

And according to the story, something changed.

The expression on his face seemed to disappear completely.

Then his mouth began opening.

Wider.

And wider.

Far wider than seemed natural.

Then the figure released a scream.

A deafening, violent scream that exploded through the forest.

And according to Taylor, it was identical to the sound that had echoed through the mountains earlier that night.

The exact same scream.

The same impossible noise.

In that instant, Taylor realized whatever had been screaming in the darkness had been standing in front of him all along.

And then he ran.
