Part 1 — The Land Nobody Wanted
According to a story shared online, a man named Mike inherited one hundred acres of land and an aging hunting cabin near the White River in Arkansas.
The property had belonged to his grandfather for decades.
Growing up, Mike had heard countless stories about the place. His grandfather hunted there, repaired the cabin himself, and often disappeared into the woods for days at a time.
Yet there was something strange about the way he spoke about the land.
Whenever anyone asked specific questions about it, he would become unusually quiet.
As a child, Mike never thought much of it.
As an adult, he began to wonder.
After inheriting the property, Mike faced a difficult decision.
The cabin was old.
The land was remote.
Selling it seemed like the practical choice.
Still, before making any decisions, he wanted to see it for himself one last time.
So, he invited two close friends and planned a weekend trip.
The idea was simple.
Spend a few days there.
Explore the property.
See whether it was worth keeping.
The drive began early on a Friday morning.
For several hours, everything felt normal.
Then the roads grew smaller.
The towns became farther apart.
Cell service started disappearing.
The forests became thicker.
By afternoon, they were driving through areas that felt untouched by time.
Dense woods stretched endlessly beyond the road.
Old, abandoned structures occasionally appeared through the trees.
Some looked as though they hadn’t been occupied in decades.
Around lunchtime they stopped at a small rural store for supplies.
While paying, Mike casually mentioned the location of the property.
The reaction was immediate.
Not dramatic.
Just strange.
The cashier suddenly became quiet.
A man drinking coffee near the window glanced in their direction.
Another customer stopped speaking entirely.
The silence lasted only a few moments.
Then everyone returned to what they had been doing.
Nobody explained the reaction.
Nobody commented.
As they walked back to the truck, one elderly man called out to them.
“You boys staying out there?”
Mike nodded.
The old man hesitated.
Then he said something that would stay with Mike for the rest of the trip.
“You shouldn’t be out there after dark.”
Before Mike could ask what he meant, the man walked away.
No explanation.
No warning beyond that.
Just those words.
At the time, Mike assumed it was nothing more than local superstition.
By the end of the weekend, he wasn’t so sure.
